Erik Apland is a Graduate Research Assistant at National Center for Landscape Fire Analysis, College of Forestry and Conservation, University of Montana.
Since beginning my fire career in 2005, I have worked for the National Park Service and US Forest Service as a firefighter in California, Arizona, and Washington. Most recently I worked on the Methow Valley Ranger District of the Okanogan National Forest, supporting the prescribed fire program with fuel loading data and evaluation of burn effectiveness, and finishing up ICT5/FFT1 qualifications on initial attacks. I received a B.S. in Forest Management from the University of Montana in 2007.
I am currently, under the guidance of Carl Seielstad, using NDVI analysis and other tools to evaluate prescribed fire effectiveness of the Sunset Ecosystem Restoration Project, Clifton Ranger District, Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest.
