In 2008, the National Center for Landscape Fire Analysis, the Rocky Mountain Research Station, and the University of Idaho formed the Wildland Fire Science Partnership to facilitate science and integration that improves the effectiveness of fire management. The partnership brings together the research and applications of each partner in a common effort to apply science, knowledge, and technology that can lessen the uncertainties in land management decision making. The Wildland Fire Science Partnership is: the Rocky Mountain Research Station's Fire, Fuel, and Smoke Science Program and the Wildland Fire Management Research Development and Application unit; the University of Idaho's Fire Research And Management Exchange System and its Wildland Fire Program; and the University of Montana's NCLFA.
